Before the demolition of the Louis-Loucheur garden city, in Moulon, in Bourges, the schoolchildren of Grand-Meaulnes pay tribute to him this Thursday evening, during an ambitious and free sound and light show.

The Moulon garden city will soon be demolished. “Instead of making it a sad moment, we want to make it a celebration,” says the musician, Julien Esperon.
Two classes from the Grand-Meaulnes school, located just opposite, therefore built a sound and light show, a joyful forty-minute show, in homage to the Louis-Loucheur city built in the 1930s in Moulon, north of Bourges.
The only performance is performed and projected this evening, at nightfall, on the facade of the garden city. It’s free.

Former inhabitants

“The trigger for this show was that we realized that students from the school had lived there,” explains Laurence Chagnoux, CE1-CE2 teacher. Two CM2 girls were born there. It was in the garden city that they saw snow for the first time, where they learned to ride a bike, where they celebrated their birthdays. When they begin to explore this rapidly changing neighborhood, Laurence Chagnoux and Corinne Thomas, the CE2 teacher, realize that a lot of nostalgia still surrounds the place.

“We went to interview former residents. Ginette, Suzanne, Philippe, lists the musician Julien Esperon. Everyone says they were happy there. That they lived there in community, together, that they were reassured. Some would like us to rebuild it identically, but more solid. »

More than thirty authors expected at the Aubigny-sur-Nère Book Fair on Sunday

“The former inhabitants,” continues Laurence Chagnoux, “told us that ten meters from the city, there were fields. That they crossed them to reach their allotment gardens in Asnières.” “We understood that it was not just a building, but a way of life,” emphasizes the musician. A construction as much social as political.”

Four songs

Schoolchildren from both classes wrote the lyrics for four songs, Julien Esperon composed the music. Added to this is the mapping by the artist MK Project, animations projected on the walls.

The show also includes archive videos found by the neighborhood association It’s possible otherwise. “It’s a lot of work for the children,” adds Julien Esperon. It could be a magical evening! »
The project was financially supported by Bourges Plus, the city’s political services, and accompanied – among others – by It’s possible otherwise, the lessor Val de Berry, the City…

Practical. Show open to all and free. See you this evening, at 10 p.m., in the courtyard of the Grand-Meaulnes school, in Bourges. The sound and light begins at nightfall.
