Three days before the Austrian GP, Lance Stroll has extended his contract with the Aston Martin team, owned by his father Lawrence, for at least two seasons. Unsurprisingly, the 25-year-old driver will therefore continue to form a duo with Spanish veteran Fernando Alonso (42), who extended his contract a few weeks ago, at least until the end of 2026.

I am very happy to stay with the team for 2025 and beyond. It’s amazing to see where we’ve come over the last five years, we’ve grown a lot collectively and there’s still a lot to do, I can’t wait“, enthused the Montreal native. The Canadian, who has competed in 153 Grands Prix, has one pole position (Turkey 2020) and three podiums (Azerbaijan 2017, Italy 2020 and Sakhir 2020) under his belt.

Lance played a key role in building this team. His technical feedback, as well as his work in the simulator, contributed to the continued development of the car each season. The consistency and stability in having both Lance and Fernando remaining in the team provides an excellent basis to continue to achieve our ambitions“, underlined Mike Krack, the team director.

Stroll debuted in Formula 1 with Williams in 2017 at just 18 years, 4 months and 26 days, becoming the second youngest driver to start a Grand Prix in the premier motorsport category after Max Verstappen. After two seasons at Williams, he joined Racing Point in 2019, the team based in Silverstone (England) bought by his father and which was then renamed Aston Martin in 2021.

The Canadian billionaire, who made his fortune in fashion, has made very large investments to allow Aston Martin to get closer to the best teams, with the stated ambition of winning the world title in the near future.
