François Hollande, legislative candidate for the New Popular Front, affirms that there is no “equivalence” between France Insoumise and the National Rally.

A president in contradiction with his former ministers. François Hollande, candidate for the legislative elections in Corrèze under the banner of the New Popular Front, affirmed this Wednesday, June 26 on BFMTV that there was no “equivalence” between France Insoumise and the National Rally.

Several former members of his socialist government, including Manuel Valls, Bernard Cazeneuve and Jean-Yves Le Drian, affirm that they will not vote for an LFI candidate, even if he faces an RN candidate.

“Automatic” withdrawal

“They are wrong. What is the risk? It is not having a rebellious majority in France,” said François Hollande. “How many RN deputies will there be if nothing is done to stop it?” asked the former head of state.

The candidate nominated by the Corrèze federation of the Socialist Party also mentioned the possibility of triangular elections in the second round. In this case, “the withdrawal must be automatic as soon as there is the risk of the election of a deputy of the National Rally”, according to him.

If François Hollande says he is ready to vote for LFI, he is not giving up his attacks against its leader, Jean-Luc Mélenchon, who says he is ready to “govern the country”. “If he wants to be of service to the New Popular Front, he must step aside, he must be silent,” he told journalists on Sunday.
