Gela Aprasidze leaves Bayonne for Perpignan, a new era in Top 14

After a period of speculation and the study of several prestigious applications, it is finally the Bayonnais Gela Aprasidze who will wear the colours of Perpignan next season. Looking for a scrum-half for some time, USAP has set its sights on the Georgian international, marking a strategic turning point in its recruitment.

An uncomfortable situation in Bayonne

Arrived in Bayonne for the current season, Aprasidze found himself faced with strong competition which prevented him from fully expressing himself. With a low number of starts to his credit, the promise of talent previously expressed at Montpellier Hérault Rugby did not have the opportunity to shine as much as expected.

Guillaume Rouet et Maxime Machenaudfirmly established, blocked his path to a regular appearance in the Rowing jersey.

Perpignan, a new start for Aprasidze

Perpignan nevertheless offers an opportunity for recovery for Gela Aprasidze who, at 26, has not yet revealed the extent of his potential. The competition will however be present, with Tom Ecochard et Sadek Deghmache already in place, a sign that the USAP is seeking to strengthen itself and not simply complete its workforce.

The transition to USAP: a wise choice?

The arrival ofAprasidze in Perpignan raises questions and expectations. Can he become the playing master that the Catalan club expects? Beyond its 50 international selections, it will be about adapting to a new context, that of a team eager for progress and a city where rugby is an institution.

From the Atlantic to the Mediterranean: a springboard to shine again

With this transfer, Gela Aprasidze moves away from the Atlantic coasts to reach the Mediterranean shores, but above all, he seeks a framework to express his talent. Perpignan gives him this chance. If he seizes the opportunity, the Top 14 could see the emergence of a player keen to show that he can influence important decisions on the field.

In search of a second chance, Gela Aprasidze turns the page Bayonne

Aprasidze, by accepting the Perpignan challenge, leaves behind an unfinished adventure in Bayonne to perhaps write one of the beautiful chapters of his career. USAP believes in his potential, and the Top 14 is waiting to see if this Catalan bet will pay off.
