The Saint-Louis church continues its transformation.
Started in 2016, the renovation work on this almost bicentenary buildinglisted as a historic monument, should be completed in 2027.
After the first two phases of the project – the restoration of the sacristy and the heating work – the City of La Roche-sur-Yon will tackle a third phase: the restoration of the choir and side chapels.
This new episode in the series of the restoration of the Saint-Louis church was estimated at €1.50 million.
To finance this amount, the City requested subsidies from the State, the Pays de la Loire Region and the Heritage Foundation.
The objective is to prepare the work in the last quarter of 2024 for the start of on-site interventions in the first quarter of 2025 and delivery in the third quarter of 2026.
The Saint-Louis church was created under Napoleon 1is and completed under Louis-Philippe.
Of neoclassical styleit is the largest church in Vendée, with the cathedral of Luçon.
Its history is inseparable from that of the city.
