Mercedes will not quickly decide on Hamilton’s replacement.

Mercedes team boss Toto Wolff says he will take his time before deciding on his Formula 1 team’s successor for next season. This follows reports from Germany suggesting that Andrea Kimi Antonelli has already been chosen to join George Russell in the team. While 39-year-old Lewis Hamilton has announced his move to Ferrari in 2025, he will continue to race for Mercedes for the time being. There is speculation that Antonelli, a young protégé, could be the chosen candidate for next season, but there are also rumors that Mercedes could try to lure Max Verstappen from Red Bull, even if his contract runs until ‘in 2028. However, any possibility of acquiring an experienced driver would depend on the team’s performance in the near future, according to Wolff. He believes improving the team’s ability to consistently reach the podium and win races independently will attract top drivers. Hamilton supports the team’s aspirations and has expressed his desire to finish his time at Mercedes at the highest level, saying he still has a strong drive for success. With 103 victories, Hamilton holds the record for the most wins in F1 history and has enjoyed a successful partnership with Mercedes since 2013, winning six of his seven F1 titles with the team.
