While waiting for this big party to start, a little look back.
The flame waslit on April 16, 2024, in the sanctuary of Olympia, in Greeceaccording to ancient tradition. Shearrived in France aboard the Belem on May 8. After passing through Alsace on June 26, the torch relay arrives in Lorraine via the Moselle which it will therefore cross this Thursday, June 27.
Departure from Meisenthal at 8:40 a.m. The flame will then cross then Sarreguemines, Forbach, Apach, Maizières-lès-Metz, Yutz, Thionville, and finally, Metz.
Step 1 : Meisenthal Glassworks Site8 h > 08 h 20
The flame will pass through everything that makes up the identity of the glassworks site: museum, workshops, hall. A 1.5 km route starting from rue d’Alsace to arrive in front of the Halle Verrière, on the former glassworks site of the town, at 9 a.m.
2nd step : Sarreguemines, 9 h 10 > 10 h 04
18 torchbearers will follow a 3.7 km route that will start at the Moulin de la Blies. The flame will go down the Avenue de la Blies then the Schuman crossroads. It will cross the Pont de l’Europe, the Boulevard du Général de Gaulle, the Place Goethe, the train station and its avenue before reaching the Town Hall via the Boulevard des Faïenceries.
Step 3: Forbach, 11 h 18 > 12 h 09
The flame will travel 3.5 km around the theater, the swimming pool, the stadium and the Schlossberg castle, a 13th century building which is distinguished by its 30-meter octagonal tower.
Step 4: Apach and the France-Germany-Luxembourg tripoint, 1:10 p.m. > 1:30 p.m.
Departing from the Eiffel Tower in Apach at 1:10 p.m., it heads towards Perl, in Germany, from where it takes the bridge which allows it to connect Schengen, in Luxembourg, over 1.2 km. Many personalities and representatives of the German Saarland and the Grand Duchy will be present upon arrival at Place des Étoiles in Schengen.
Etape 5 : ArcelorMittal Research SA, 14 h 57 > 15 h 07
ArcelorMittal manufactured the 2,000 torches carried for the torch relay on several sites including Woippy and Florange. It will therefore pass through the Maizières-lès-Metz research center, in the Steelworks hall.
Step 6: Yutz then Thionville, 15 h 16 > 16 h 22
Departing from the Yutz Airport, near the Amphi, the flame will head for 4.6 km towards the Place de la Liberté in Thionville, passing through the avenues of Nations and the Brasserie and the Pont des Alliés. . She must arrive there at 4:22 p.m., after a 4.6 km circuit.
Step 7: House of Robert Schuman in Scy-Chazelles, 4:49 p.m. > 5:09 p.m.
For 1.2 km from the Esplanade, the flame will highlight the Robert Schuman house, residence of the man who was one of the founding fathers of Europe. 200 people from the founding countries of Europe are invited. It will leave from the Saint-Rémi church to arrive at the Saint-Quentin church.
Arrival : Metz, 17 h 56 > 19 h 20
A 6.4 km route through the city is planned. It begins at the Arena and ends at Place de la République with the celebration and lighting of the cauldron. The flame will pass 23 entertainment points including the Center Pompidou-Metz, Porte Serpenoise, Place de la Comédie and Place d’Armes. She will finish her crossing in Metz under a guard of honor of 24 people.
