Minjat was organizing a country evening on June 20. An event which once again made it possible to connect urban consumers with farmers and in this case, that evening, women farmers.

This producers’ store with a restaurant was created by three students, co-founders of this social and solidarity economy SAS. David Pagès is an engineer in the food industry, Cyril Picot and Anton Dmitried, both sons of farmers, met in hotel school. With a charter for eating well, the store brings together 300 farmers from the region and employs 32 employees (full-time equivalent).

Despite the rain which forced the banquet tables to be moved back to the canteen, 150 people enjoyed this 5th edition, which is still very popular with gourmet city dwellers keen to consume local, quality products.

The evening program began at 6:30 p.m. with the opening of the photo exhibition and the meeting with 4 producers under 30 years old. The Gueules de Paysans association was created by four young women, daughters or wives of farmers during the Covid confinement aims to “give farmers a voice by posting portraits, texts and videos of their daily lives on social networks: Instagram , Tiktok, Facebook and Linkedin”, explains Mathilde Shoemaker, the president.

From 8 p.m., the meal, accompanied by fanfare, was concocted around Gers products (Lectoure melon, duck fillets on brazier, gratin dauphinois, Gascon pastis, Ariège ice cream and Armagnac brulot).

Gwendoline Feral, sales manager, announces the upcoming events: “The Pyrenees fortnight for Minjat’s 6th anniversary, then in October the mobile press to make apple juice with the participation of schools.”
