“La Ciotat is not Ibiza”: a resident takes legal action to denounce noise pollution

Summer is here, and with it the launch of beautiful evenings of festivities. In the city center of La Ciotat, and in particular on the Port Vieux which has been made pedestrian every day from 6:30 p.m. to 1 a.m., this is visible. Bars that come alive until the middle of the night, shows and concerts of all kinds…

In short, the port is properly celebrating the arrival of the summer season. Perhaps a little too much to the ears of some local residents. In any case, this is the opinion of a retiree preferring to remain anonymous who, tired of what he considers to be repeated excesses, decided to refer the matter to the Marseille administrative court. The objective: to obtain proof from the City of its action against noise, and possibly prove a deficiency in the area.

“La Ciotat is not Ibiza”

Since 2021, this Ciotaden has continued to ask the City to make public the documents attesting to compliance with health regulations regarding noise. Noting the non-communication of said documents, the retiree had seized the Commission for Access to Administrative Documents (Cada) four times in recent years.

The latter having approved each time the legitimacy for the taxpayer to receive these municipal documents. “My client never received a response despite these referrals, until he took legal action,” regrets Me Zoé Poncelet, for whom “authorizations for establishments open to the public are issued without controls”.
