In 2018, we discovered a strange world of post-apocalyptic silence in “Without a Sound”, a film by John Krasinski, with himself and his wife Emily Blunt, in which the slightest noise unleashed predatory monsters. A feature film which had a direct sequel, by the same director, in June 2021. Today, the saga has the right to a spin-off, “Sans une bruit: Jour 1”, which is released in cinemas on June 26 . A film that explains the origins of this silent world.
“A Quiet Place: Day One” is written and directed by Michael Sarnoski, director of “Pig” with Nicolas Cage, in 2021. He chose, in his film, to explain the origins of the world depicted by John Krasinski in the two “A Quiet Place” feature films. The idea for this film actually came from Krasinski, who is co-producer, alongside Michael Bay in particular. For his part, John Krasinski, who has just directed “Blue & Company”, is working on a sequel to “A Quiet Place 2”.
However, “Without a Sound: Day 1”, a film derived from the “Without a Sound” saga, is independent: we can very well see it and follow it without having seen any of the films in the saga. The action of this new film takes place before the saga, we do not find the same characters and the same actors.
Lupita Nyong’o, Joseph Quinn… and a cat
The main character of “Quietly: Day 1” is played by Lupita Nyong’o, known for being Nakia in “Black Panther” and Maz Kanata in recent episodes of “Star Wars”. At his side, there is Joseph Quinn, famous for having played Eddie Munson in season 4 of the series “Stranger Things”, Alex Wolff who is Spencer in the reboot of “Jumanji”, as well as Djimon Hounsou, who plays Korath in Marvel films and General Titus in “Rebel Moon”. He was also seen in “Quietly 2”. Actors who play new characters who will have to adapt to silence to survive.
If the “Sans a sound” films take place in the countryside, it is in the heart of New York that the action of “Sans a sound: Day 1” takes place. A city where chaos reigns. And, in the middle of this chaos, a character brings a little touch of sweetness: the cat, a service animal that Lupita Nyong’o holds on a leash and in her arms.
