Rochefort Montagne. Inauguration of the Valéry Giscard d’Estaing space. Dominique Jarlier, mayor of Rochefort-Montagne, and Louis Giscard d’Estaing, president of the foundation Valéry Giscard d’Estaing, regional councilor and mayor of Chamalières, inaugurated a new space around a city stadium, named after the former President of the Republic.
This space dedicated to urban sports and a bowling green is the first phase of a project surrounded by nature, which will evolve over the years to come. The municipal council has decided to develop the land below into a place for relaxation, picnics and walks which, in the medium term, will become a place of pleasure and meetings between different generations.
The choice of the name of the former President of the Republic is a way of paying tribute to a politician who did a lot for the town, notably being at the origin of the creation of the agricultural high school, the viaduct and many other actions always dedicated to the development of Rochefort-Montagne and the improvement of the living conditions of the Rochefortais. This project was carried out thanks to the support of the Regional Council and the National Sports Agency, which subsidized a large part of the investment.
