Twin brothers aged 37 were sentenced by the Albi criminal court to sentences of 6 and 7 years in prison for having directed drug trafficking in the Albigensian region. Their older brother, based in Carmaux, received a 3-year prison sentence including 19 months of probation.

The Albi judicial court had planned a full day of hearing for this criminal trial. Six people in total were tried on Tuesday June 25 for their involvement in drug trafficking which covered the north of Tarn. Among them, twin brothers suspected of leading this network for the resale of cannabis, cocaine and MDMA.

One of them, YD, had already “fallen” in January 2023 for similar facts. 11 kg of cannabis and a handgun were notably seized by investigators. Sentenced to a 3-year prison sentence, he was incarcerated at the Albi remand center when a new investigation was opened in March 2023 concerning alleged drug trafficking in Saint-Juéry, in the Albigensian conurbation. .

After several days of surveillance, police officers from the Albi police station identified the main suspect: it was his twin brother, AD The wiretapping ordered by investigating judge Blandine Arrial, as part of an investigation judicial, revealed that the twins telephoned each other daily to discuss the smooth running of the traffic. AD would thus have taken over the affairs of his incarcerated brother, asking him for advice or waiting for his instructions.

More than 500 deliveries in a few months

He himself set up a team to ensure the supply of narcotics from Toulouse suppliers and to deliver to Albigensian customers. Like this 29-year-old work colleague, who had a crush on him and who agreed to make around fifteen trips to Toulouse until their arrest in June 2023. Or this employee of a printing house, who became addicted to cocaine and which alone made more than 500 deliveries to the Albigensian region in a few months, for sales estimated at nearly €60,000. During a search, investigators found at his workplace a school bag containing a machine gun, a handgun and cannabis, which he said he had stored on behalf of traffickers, refusing to incriminate directly AD or YD

The twins’ older brother, living in Carmaux, was also linked to trafficking by investigators. According to prosecutor Murielle Costa, he had been in charge of the Carmausin sector since YD’s incarceration. Already convicted 15 times in the past, he assured the court that he had turned the page on delinquency and that he would not was only “helping out” certain clients with cocaine, being himself a user.

The twins, who already have 24 convictions each, had difficulty explaining to the magistrates the content of the particularly explicit telephone tapping, claiming that it was “bullshit”. “We were talking nonsense.” AD recognized the reality of the trafficking but refused to implicate his twin brother. The latter, too, completely denies having continued his business in prison. According to the public prosecutor, YD is nevertheless the “co-manager” of this “family business”, from his cell in the remand center where two mobile phones were found.

The court sentenced YD and AD to respective sentences of 6 and 7 years in prison, with continued detention. Their older brother and the three other defendants received mixed sentences ranging from 24 to 36 months in prison. They all have 10 days to appeal.
