Marsa Maroc, the national port operator, has concluded a concession agreement with the company Nador West Med to manage the East Container Terminal of the port of Nador West Med.

The agreement, approved by the Supervisory Board of Marsa Maroc on June 25, covers a period of 25 years and concerns a terminal with a capacity of 3.4 million Twenty-foot Equivalent Units (TEU). This terminal, which will have 1,520 meters of quay, a depth of 18 meters and 70 hectares of land, is planned for commissioning in 2027. Marsa Maroc will invest around 200 million euros for the first phase, by equipping the terminal with 15 quay gantry cranes and 45 latest generation park gantry cranes, exploiting its operational expertise to ensure its commercial profitability.

Building on its success in the Tanger Med port complex, where it manages Container Terminal 3 in partnership with Hapag Lloyd and others, Marsa Maroc is thus strengthening its leadership in the transshipment market in the Mediterranean.

The new terminal will increase its processing capacity to 6.5 million TEUs, including nearly 5 million dedicated to transshipment. By positioning itself as the leading operator within Nador West Med, Marsa Maroc consolidates its national and international presence, and pursues its development strategy in the port, maritime and logistics sectors. In 2023, Marsa Maroc managed 24 terminals in 10 Moroccan ports, with a total traffic of 57 million tonnes.
