Pedestrianization in the Saint-Gervais district will begin in Avranches. Thanks to the installation of retractable bollards, this axis which leads from Place Saint-Gervais to the Market Square can now be pedestrianized. A first test phase starts on December 9. “The goal is to promote alternative and gentle modes of travel, enhance existing lanes and pedestrian paths. Certain streets, including rue Saint-Gervais, are already classified as meeting zones with a speed limit of 20 km/h.”

Terminals active at specific times

The terminal installed at the entrance to rue Saint-Gervais (coming from rue Brémesnil) will permanently prevent the passage of vehicles except on weekdays from 5 a.m. to 10 a.m. to allow deliveries and on Saturday mornings from 5 a.m. to 8 a.m. for the installation of market traders. The terminal installed on rue des Chapeliers will only be active on Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. in order to secure the market.

For residents, badges will allow them to cross these two terminals at any time and without time limit except for the terminal on rue des Chapeliers on Saturdays during the market since car traffic is prohibited.
