Wall. An incredible sunflower in his garden!

We’re not coming to tell you the story of “Jack and the Giant Beanstalk”, which children like. But the very real one of “Bernard and his giant sunflower” which grew in his garden in Muret. This remarkable sunflower these days reaches almost 4 meters in height (to be precise, 3.80 meters). With a mixture of wonder and modesty, he shares that the flower has not yet finished developing and could potentially gain a few more centimeters…

Sunflower seeds to feed your chickens

Bernard originally planted sunflower seeds to feed his chickens. When asked what could explain this impressive size, Bernard sincerely speculates. “Maybe it’s because of the selection I do every year, keeping only the best seeds. Maybe it’s also because of the climate… But honestly, I’m not an expert on sunflowers. This is the first time I’ve seen this!” The flower having bloomed and grown, it should soon stop growing. “I’m keeping a close eye on it, but I think it could still grow about 20 centimetres and reach 4 metres,” he adds optimistically.

With a touch of humor, Bernard admits to having checked the Book of Records to see if his sunflower could break a record, but he laughs by saying that it is not yet listed there. “In any case,” he concludes simply, “it’s not trivial, I didn’t do anything special for it.”

For Bernard, this giant sunflower represents not only a botanical curiosity but also the fruit of his daily care in his garden. It’s an example of the natural beauty and satisfaction that comes from gardening, even when it starts with seeds for chickens… Magical seeds, akin to the story of “Jack and the Giant Beanstalk?”…
