When two car enthusiasts meet, what do they tell each other? They discuss furiously and, over the course of roaring conversations, they create the 1re edition of the Rétro-Ré Classic! It already sounds like a car rally. And yet no.
This is how the genesis of this new Rais meeting could be written with the official organizers Pierre Adam, from the Mercedes-Benz Club France, and Francis Vergnaud, president of the 2 CV Méhari Club on the Ile de Ré. How to organize, with whom, where and when? With the support of the town hall of Sainte-Marie-de-Ré, the Department of Charente-Maritime as well as local traders, they are back on track… or rather on the asphalt.
Saturday June 29, the aptly named paradise parking lot will take visitors to the stars. Those that make the eyes of lovers of beautiful, gleaming and spacious “Mercos” (Mercedes) style bodies shine or those that bipeds fans of “coolness” like to drive by the sea, the “Mémé” (Méhari) of vacations or the “Deudeuche” (2CV) of always.
With many clubs
Several clubs from the region will be present: ARVA, 24 Heures de la Pelle, US Motors from La Rochelle, but also APVA from Poitiers, Young Timer Mercedes from Marsilly, Club 2CV and Méhari from Île de Ré and the Mercedes-Benz Club France official Poitou-Charentes region. Without forgetting, to take in the sights, the presence of classic car clubs and the Mercedes dealership in La Rochelle as well as automobile restoration professionals.
If we add to this Francis Zégut, radio host of RTL2 who will dedicate his album “Playlist” as well as the meeting between enthusiasts and the public, there is no doubt that the mayonnaise will take hold.
Finally, in the afternoon, a sort of fashion show, but for vehicles presented by their owner, “historical and passionate”, will be hosted by Michel Lardeux.
