Caetano storm in Limousin: more than 3,500 homes without electricity in Haute-Vienne, 1,000 in Corrèze

The trend is towards improvement. This Friday morning, after the passage of storm Caetano over Limousin, there are only 9,000 households affected by power cuts in the three departments (Haute-, Corrèze, Creuse) according to the latest report established at 9 a.m. this Friday. It's half as much as yesterday Thursday early evening. In detail, the situation concerns 3,500 homes in Haute-Vienne and 1,000 in Corrèze. Thursday evening, up to 110 Enedis agents were mobilized for repairs, as well as around thirty technicians from the company's service providers. “Power should be restored during the day” announced François Pesneau, guest of the morning, on the microphone of Bleu Limousin.

Delays still to be expected on SNCF traffic

On the other hand, SNCF traffic suffered greatly at the start of the day. While yesterday, Thursday, many TER trains had already been canceled on the Nouvelle-Aquitaine linesthis had to be added with numerous delays on the POLT line. So the 7:04 a.m. train is up to 4 hours late because of an obstacle on the track spotted between and La Souterraine. The 9:04 a.m. train is indicated, around 9:30 a.m., already almost two hours late.

Some injuries to be deplored after the fall of trees linked to strong winds in Haute-Vienne

Fortunately, the strong gusts of the day did not cause major material or physical damage, but still. “There were around forty interventions by firefighters in Haute-Vienne, indicated François Pesneau the prefect of the department, and we have to deplore four accidents, including one involving a person in absolute emergency.” Two young women aged 24 and 26 and a 25 year old man were indeed injured in the Caetano passage, all because of trees hit on the road in the areas of Dompierre les Eglises, Saint Laurent les Eglise and Javerdat. In Corrèze, trees also fell on the roads without however causing an accident according to the gendarmes.

Note that the winds blew very strong. A gust was recorded at 117 km/h by Météo France services Thursday evening around 6:15 p.m. Symbol of the violence of this Caetano storm.
