The city of Amiens is setting up a new system: Youth consultations. It allows the 18-25 ans to propose ideas and thus involve them in local and social life so that they become committed citizens for their municipality.
A space for exchanges for Amiens youth
This system provides a space for discussion open to those who wish to get involved in the life of their city. It is aimed at Amiens aged 18 to 25. The Youth Consultations are also a place of awareness to the principles of democracy and active citizenship. It is also a space allowing Amiens residents to give their opinion on municipal projects and to propose actions to be implemented. This body makes it possible to adapt municipal policies as closely as possible to the expectations and needs of Amiens residents.
Social work around two themes
The people of Amiens have until December 1st to register and integrate the Youth Consultations. This system was created because a few years ago, there was a municipal council for young people from Amiens and the municipality wanted to recreate it. Two consultations bringing together fifteen people each will be held in December for a period of eight months.
The groups will work around two themes: the environment and the attractiveness of the territory. Amiens residents will meet once a month at the Corner to discuss and propose actions. Their ideas, approved by the elected officials in charge of these files, will be presented to community representatives in plenary session. These meetings are only consultative, not all ideas will necessarily be implemented since the goal is also to raise awareness among young people about citizenship and the functioning of the community. Visits may be considered depending on the subjects.
