Nine years ago, the Pink Piano was born with its wonderful band and its leader, because, of course, in a band, we don’t joke, there is always the leader, and this one is Philippe Gil.
During all these years, the band has delighted its audience during its outings, both in the Jean-Baylet hall and at the Apollo, or, in recent years, on the site of the former slaughterhouses. The programs they offer appeal to the Valencian public, with different themes, with casting evenings, musicals, cinema or other cabarets. Everything is perfectly studied and the result is a real treat.
For their new edition on Friday July 5 and Saturday July 6, Philippe’s gang has chosen to transport us far back in time to make us relive fifty years of songs with many artists who made us dream and of whom we still have a lot of their successes on the lips. Some have disappeared, others are still very present: Léo Ferré, Serge Lama, Michel Polnareff, Jacques Brel, Francis Cabrel, Louise attack, Dee Purple, AC/DC, the Beatles, Céline Dion, Adèle, Kendji Girac.
What songs were chosen? Impossible to know, speechless. Besides, we like to reserve surprises at the Piano Rose.
This show, like all those that preceded it, has been worked on for many months. We slipped behind the scenes of their last rehearsal. At the beginning, as always, the preparations. We plug in the guitars and microphones, we vocalize to the rhythm of the drums. We wonder what they will start this session with. Only the boys are there. That’s it, it starts with Louise attacks and a first medley! Then we debrief… We give each other advice on how to heat the room. Everything has to be perfect. The singers appear, Adeline and Marie go cold turkey with “Creep”, by Radiohead. They flood the room with notes that catch your throat, the emotion is present, silence reigns around. Then it’s Estelle and Diane’s turn with a rock song, with Max on bass: a real treat! The allegory is perfect for this year’s theme: “50 years in songs”.
The rehearsal ends. Wow ! What a privilege to have been able to participate behind the scenes. That’s great ! As always, they are ready, we can assure you, but that evening, it is nothing compared to the show that they will offer on July 5 and 6, with the participation of Sandy’s company Ten’Danse and Nicolas Massip and their lovely dancers, in the old slaughterhouses or in the Golfech hall in case of bad weather, the Jean-Baylet hall being taken over by the elections.
