HYERES: A new partnership between the Renée Sabran hospital and the Musée du Niel in Giens

The Musée du Niel welcomes the Director General of the Hospices Civils de Lyon and the Local Governance of the Hospital Renée Sabran and announces a new partnership.

The Musée du Niel welcomes Raymond Le Moign, Director General of the Hospices Civils de Lyon, accompanied by the local governance of the Renée Sabran Hospital. This evening marks the announcement of an innovative partnership between these two institutions. Since last year, the Niel Museum mediation team has organized visits for groups of patients, allowing them to discover the current exhibitions. These very popular visits were repeated this year and are held every two weeks. New initiatives are also being studied to offer patients additional cultural activities, planned for the museum’s closure in mid-October, in order to facilitate the dissemination of resources outside its walls.
This initiative is a continuation of the founding project of the Musée du Niel. Since its opening, this art venue has been committed to actively participating in the life of the Giens peninsula, the commune of Hyères and the Var department. A member of the Plein Sud network, the museum became an official partner of the La Banque museum in 2023 and integrated the Artistic and Cultural Education plan of the municipality of Hyères. In this context, the Musée du Niel supports students from nursery, primary, middle and high schools in Hyères throughout the year. In 2024, music has also found its place at the museum with concerts in collaboration with the Toulon Opera and the Châteauvallon theater.
The Musée du Niel is also committed to the environment. Since January 2024, it has been part of the Esprit Parc national de Port-Cros network. Its garden, which has become a complementary asset to the exhibitions, has hosted various exchanges with local actors such as the Salins de Pesquiers and the Fort du Pradeau since May.
Jean-Noël Drouin, founder of the Musée du Niel, says: “The Musée du Niel’s mission is to bring together, protect and exhibit works by European painters of the 20th century. But today, a museum must also be a place of life, both within its walls and beyond. Our territory brings together dynamic players who are passionate about culture and nature. This unique network cultivates a true art of living between art and sea, which we are happy to share with as many people as possible. This partnership with the teams at the Renée Sabran hospital is a significant step forward in this direction. »
