After turbulent weather and cool temperatures, Météo-France announces a rise in the mercury from this Monday and for the coming days. On Thursday, the record will be broken by Nouvelle-Aquitaine with 36°C in Bordeaux.

Summer has definitely set in in France. While the weather this Monday will be marked by some instability, temperatures have been revised upwards according to Météo-France. A trend which should be confirmed for the days to come, particularly in the five regions of Ile-de-France, Brittany, Pays-de-la-Loire, Centre-Val-de-Loire and the New Aquitaine.

It is also the south-west region which will break the heat record for the week with a thermometer which could peak at 36°C in Bordeaux on Thursday afternoon. This day will undoubtedly be the hottest of the week for other regions such as Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes where the maximums in Montélimar, Lyon and Vichy could respectively reach 33°C and 32°C.

Elsewhere and for other days, the mercury will go up to 32°C in Paris and Bordeaux on June 25. The rest of France will observe a sunny day, with the exception of Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur where showers and risks of thunderstorms are forecast in Gap and Nice in the afternoon.

Deterioration from Friday

Temperatures will remain unchanged for the day on Wednesday, with 32°C in Paris, Rennes in Brittany and Tours in Center-Val-de-Loire. In the neighboring Pays-de-la-Loire region, Nantes could record 33°C on the thermometer. In Bordeaux, it will be slightly warmer, with a maximum of 34°C expected.

From Friday June 28, the weather will start to deteriorate. Météo-France is announcing a series of showers in the north-eastern quarter of the country and on the Spanish border. Temperatures will be between 13°C and 29°C in the northern half and 13°C and 30°C in the southern half. A trend which should extend until Sunday.

As Météo-France pointed out, normal summer temperatures are 20.4°C on average, with around 195 mm of precipitation. “The five hottest summers since 1900 have all occurred in the 21st century: 2003, 2022, 2018, 2023, 2019,” the weather service added.
