This Thursday, November 21, Marion Mazarde begins the Raid Amazones, a 100% female race which is taking place this year in Cambodia. As part of this journey, she and her best friend collect funds, donated to a charity.

Marion Mazarde, mother of two children, is an accomplished woman. A native of Aix-en-Provence and who arrived in Étoile-sur-Rhône in 2006, this sportswoman likes to share challenges with her husband Nicolas, through mountain biking, skiing, trail running and even obstacle racing.

Cambodia in the crosshairs

Of November 21 to 1is DecemberMarion will take part in the 25e edition of the Amazon Raid, a test 100% feminine over several days created by host and globetrotter Alexandre Debanne. This year, the raid takes place in Cambodia. A total of 300 participants will travel to this South-East Asian country, which combines preserved nature and universal heritage. Several tests will be highlighted such as trail running, canoeing, mountain biking, archery and orienteering, which will culminate in the archaeological site of the Angkor temple. “Part of the days will also be devoted to discovering local customs”specifies Marion. “Forty years is the time when we can still take on new challenges and challenge ourselves”she adds. “I also owe this human adventure to my best friend Vinciane who wanted to put our relationship to the test, while forming a team with a mind of steel.” The two inseparable people have launched Instagram and Facebook accounts in the name of their team, the “Mamazones”, where they will recount their journey.

Behind sport, a charitable action

This beautiful journey also includes a solidarity component. Marion's team supports the association “Un Enfant par la Main”. The objective: finance bikes for Cambodian children, so that they can go to school in good conditions. As we write these lines, 4 214 € were collected via the HelloAsso site out of the expected €5,000, i.e. 84% of the objective achieved. There are still around forty days left to contribute to this wonderful project combining sport and charitable action, while at the same time the Cambodian adventure of Marion and Vinciane begins.
