In Sarthe, it is therefore in the five constituencies that citizens are called to the polls.

In the second constituency (Le Mans, Bouloire, Montfort-le-Gesnois), the outgoing MP Marietta Karamanli announced that he would be running for re-election with the mayor of Changé as his alternate, Yves-Marie Hervé. She is the candidate of the New Popular Front.

In June 2022during the previous parliamentary election, she had been elected in the second round under the NUPES label with a score of 63.06% (20,399 votes) against Angéline Furet, the RN candidate who had obtained 36.94% (11,952 votes).

It should be noted that this second round was marked by a high abstention rate : 56.82%, or 47,316 of the 83,728 registered on the electoral lists of the constituency did not turn out.

Marietta Karamanli, 59, has been a member of parliament for the constituency for four terms. In 2007, she won the seat from Jean-Marie Geveaux (UMP). This teacher born in Athens (Greece) is city ​​councilordu Mans since 1989 . She has dual nationality.

An LR-RN alliance with François Fèvre as candidate

He was invested by Eric Ciotti whose decision to ally himself with the RN created a shock wave within his party.

His substitute is Angeline Furet former candidate of the far-right party during the 2022 legislative elections and recently elected Member of the European Parliament on the RN list.

Thomas Hubert will be the candidate of Lutte Ouvrière in the 2nd constituency of Sarthe with Armelle Bretonas a replacement. A 55-year-old teacher, party activist since 1987, he opposes the increase in the army budget and deplores the increasing deterioration of services publics.

If the candidate believes that the extreme right is “a mortal danger” particularly for immigrant workershe also considers that “the left and the right have succeeded each other in having the same policy of service to the big bosses”. He denounces the “anti-worker policies” carried out by the right, the left and the government of Emmanuel Macron.
