Unusual atmosphere in the city center of Combourg (Ille-et-Vilaine), Thursday November 14, 2024, late afternoon. The presence of a helicopter flying over the city of Chateaubriand and numerous gendarmes in the streets did not go unnoticed and was widely commented on on social networks.

Dressed in black and masked

The reason for such a deployment of law enforcement? Numerous detonations heard in the afternoon.

The scene takes place around 4:30 p.m., in front of the François-René school in Chateaubriand. “There were about ten of us waiting in front of the school gates when we saw an orange-yellow car appear,” says a student.

Two individuals got out while the driver continued to circle the roundabout very quickly. They were dressed all in black, had their faces covered by a Halloween mask and wore a hood. They started shooting with fireworks mortars. They aimed into the air and then to the sides before starting to aim their mortars at the students.

A witness to the scene

The dozen high school students gathered in front of the gates returned to the establishment to take shelter. According to another high school student, “around fifteen explosions” were heard.
