By Astou NDIAYE – As usual, the history and geography department of the Lycée Coumba Ndoffène Diouf in Fatick held its annual history and geography summary for Baccalaureate candidates from the city of Fatick at the Crfpe de Fatick. This year, the theme was “antagonism of the two superpowers and the process of decolonization of the Third World, practical cases”. This initiative was led by Djidiack Faye, director of the Regional Development Agency (Ard), also president of the Movement for the Citizen Revolution (Mrc) and member of the “Diomaye President” Coalition. “We are here this morning (yesterday) to support the final year students of the Lycée Coumba Ndoffène Diouf in Fatick, so that they can approach in the best way the Baccalaureate exams in the field of history and geography, which remain fundamental and strategic matters,” informed Djidiack Faye.
Regarding the choice of disciplines addressed by the speakers and the chosen theme, the political actor explains: “Being a pure scientist, I always loved history and geography throughout my school career. As a planner later, I learned that geography is the crossroads of disciplines and that everyone needs it. As for history, it is important to know to better understand the present and the future. I hope that this theme will help you pass the Baccalaureate and that you need it to understand world geopolitics.” He continues: “we are in our fourth activity this quarter in the field of support for education, a crucial sector for the development of our Nation. We supported the Scientific Club of the Lycée Coumba Ndoffène Diouf in Fatick, as well as the days of excellence of the establishments of Patar Sine and Cem 4 of Fatick,” he said.
For him, the development of a country is measured by the quality of its human resources. “Education is the foundation of development. Fortunately, this is consistent with the vision of the new authorities of this country,” he underlines.
