In Luxembourg, a factory Though (agricultural machinery manufacturer) is being built in Sanem et Esch-sur-Alzettevery close to Lorraine.

According to the group, this site should be operational by next year and will require the hiring of around a hundred people over the years.

A manufacturing unit for the Joskin group

The future Joskin factory in Luxembourg will be spread over 15 800 m² : “This manufacturing unit will focus on the painting and assembly stages of large agricultural trailers with monocoque bodies. We will start with heavy duty skips and agricultural tipper trailers, then gradually launch manure spreaders,” Joskin explains to - Luxembourg.

The site will have a production rate ranging from fifteen to twenty trailers per week. It will be the final link in the production chain.

The plant will be operational in June 2025

Initially, this Joskin factory was supposed to start its activities in 2023. But the schedule had problems retard : “The location of the land, straddling two municipalities (Sanem and Esch-sur-Alzette) notably required twice as many steps to obtain building permits, thus postponing the start of the work to December 2023, i.e. almost ‘one year after the estimated date,’ says the company.

The end of the structural work (covered, closed and paved buildings) is now expected at the end of October 2024 and the start of the installation of major equipment (surface treatment line, welding lines, etc.) is planned for January 2025. We are therefore counting on the plant being put into operation in June 2025.

A hundred jobs at stake

But to operate a site of this scale, employees are needed: “At first cruising speed, the factory should employ around fifty people. This number should then gradually increase over the years to reach a hundred people »declares Joskin.

Welders, industrial painters, fitters, maintenance operators, maintenance electricians, handling operators, administrative and accounting employees, caretaker-janitor… There are numerous professions in demand. But Joskin also specifies that he wants to recruit “passionate and motivated people”.

Salaries, contracts… What should you expect?

While contracts will be discussed on a case-by-case basis, the Joskin group aims to establish ” stable staff under permanent contract ».

Concerning salaries, the precise amount is not known, but the group specifies: “ [Ils] will be in line with Luxembourg standards and the professions concerned”.

As a reminder, a salary increase is planned for 2024 in Luxembourg. Today, here are the minimum social wages in force :

  • 18 years and over, qualified: 3,085.11 euros gross monthly
  • 18 years and over, unqualified: 2,570.93 euros gross monthly

Recruitment before the plant is put into operation

Joskin also specifies that recruitment will take place before the factory is operational: “For maintenance electrician positions, it would, for example, be ideal for the selected candidates to be able to participate in the assembly of electrical installations from the current phase to master them. maintenance thereafter.”

For welders and fitters, candidates could train in Belgian units and participate in the on-site installation of the equipment that they will then be called upon to use.
