Handling weapons, telescopic batons, use of tear gas, shooting, everything was reviewed in scenarios for the 17 police officers attached to Lavandou.
In two day and night shifts, they carried out 626 interventions in 2023. “Road accidents, disturbances, drunkenness, family disputes, arrests…”explains department head Yoann Petitpas. He adds: “There were also hundreds of burglary prevention patrols, 127 fines for dumping waste in places not intended for this purpose and 42 speed checks.”
Around fifty cameras
Public space surveillance has around fifty cameras as far as Cavalière. A network extended to all schools in the municipality to continue in the eco-district.
In a presence of proximity and prevention, the local police also takes care of traffic regulation, parking, assistance to people and the fight against delinquency. There are also operations with cyclists and scooter drivers who seem not to pay attention to the prohibition signs on the seafront and certain sidewalks, or for the speed limit.

Convention with Bormes
Present, Roland Berger, deputy mayor for security, confirms that “cooperation with the gendarmerie and the municipal police of Bormes-les-Mimosas is very active. Every Tuesday, a meeting brings together these services with the research brigade and the intervention platoon of the Hyères gendarmerie as well as the Lavandou nautical brigade. This allows us to exchange information and guide our future actions.”
“An agreement between the municipal police of Lavandou, Bormes and the intercommunal gendarmerie is in the process of being signed to make it easier to pool our resources for certain specific events”concludes Yoann Petitpas.
