While an Ensemble activist (presidential majority) was towing on the Place de Paris market (9th arrondissement), the latter was allegedly the victim of racism and anti-Semitism on the part of an activist from the New Popular Front.

The events allegedly took place yesterday, Sunday June 23, while an Ensemble activist (presidential majority) was towing on the Place de Paris market, in the 9th arrondissement of Lyon. The latter would have been approached by an activist for Boris Tavernier, candidate in the 2nd constituency of Rhône for the New Popular Front, and would have made racist remarks: “You don’t have the head to pull for Macron, you’re not white.” In a press release, Loic Terrenes, Macronist candidate in the 2nd constituency, denounces comments “unacceptable” and assures that five days previously, another rebellious activist would also have attacked a sympathizer of the majority, ensuring that “Jews control the media.”

“The far left reveals its true face”

Still in his press release, Loic Terrenes protests: “The extreme left, because the New Popular Front is dominated by this extreme left and no other sensibility, reveals its true face: aggressive, making remarks which are not opinions but crimes, in a quest to divide society .”

The majority candidate claims to have called on his opponent, Boris Tavernier, to denounce these comments. To which the latter would have replied: “It’s true, especially since you are more humanist than the rebellious militants could believe.” A response which differs greatly from the one published yesterday on his X account (ex-Twitter), in which the left-wing candidate declares that “If these comments are confirmed, they are obviously unacceptable, contrary to my values and commitment.”

He adds : “No political disagreement can justify discrimination (…). We are contacting people who may have witnessed this to shed light on this situation which deserves intransigence and clarity, far from any exploitation. Anti-Semitism and racism must stop , it is urgent and vital.”
