Saint-Sébastien-sur-Loire, the City reiterates its commitment to organ donation

” From now on, we have a mission to raise awareness among citizens about this cause,” said Claudine Ciglia, 4e deputy mayor, on National Organ Donor Day, June 22. Several avenues are being explored: the installation of an “ambassador city” sign with its green ribbon, symbol of organ donation, (photo) on the Auchan roundabout; a file in the city magazine; an educational video to enable the association to raise awareness among the general public; planting a tree in tribute to organ donors and their loved ones in the town hall park. Symbolically, it is a grafted tree, a prunus serrulata (Japanese cherry tree) with white flowering.

Testimony from the President of France Rein 44

The president of France Rein 44, Anne Hiegel, was present on Saturday and she testified, herself a kidney transplant recipient: “The donors and their families who accept this donation are altruists, they give an invaluable gift to the transplant recipient: the return to life, to a normal life. »

As a reminder, organ donation is possible at any age. Anne Hiegel explained that one person who agrees to donate their organs can save or improve the lives of ten people. But the problem is that, even if the donor agrees, at the fateful moment, his family may refuse (especially when it comes to children) and the medical team must respect this decision. It is therefore important to clearly indicate your wish and to ensure that your loved ones will not override this choice. The body of the deceased was returned to his family in impeccable condition.
