Escape from the Vincennes administrative detention center, 13 detainees wanted: News

Fourteen individuals escaped during the night from Saturday to Sunday from the administrative detention center (CRA) in Vincennes. Only one was found. Authorities are still searching for the other thirteen.

A hole in a fence was enough for fourteen detainees from the administrative detention center (CRA) of Vincennes – located in the 12th arrondissement of Paris – to escape, on the night of Saturday June 22 to Sunday June 23. As reported by the -17 site, an individual was found on Sunday, a few hours after the police discovered the escape. He was taken into custody. The thirteen other detainees are still being sought. An investigation was opened for evading administrative detention of a foreigner during a meeting.

Police discovered around 3 a.m. Sunday that there had been an escape. They were able to see the extent of it by inspecting the fence of the CRA of Vincennes and by viewing the video surveillance images available to them. As shown in an amateur video relayed by -17, part of the fence was cut, allowing the fourteen detainees to pass to the other side easily.

Three escapees awaiting deportation abroad

The Paris prosecutor’s office, which entrusted the investigations to the 12th arrondissement police station, indicated that three of the thirteen individuals still wanted had just been released from prison. The -17 site specifies that they were awaiting deportation to their country of origin. A police source stressed to the Parisian that none of the detainees presented a dangerous profile.

This escape is reminiscent of that of December 25, which took place in the same CRA. Eleven inmates then escaped, again by cutting part of the fence, but their escape was detected immediately.
