Organizing the French disabled sports team championships was a great opportunity for 4S Tours to bring together several table tennis players qualified for the Paralympic Games this summer, this weekend.

If the Jocondien Esteban Herrault ultimately did not participate in the competition (because he left for the Czech Republic for another tournament), one of his teammates in the French team and at the TT Joué, Clément Berthier, was present to present the trophies on the podium , between two Olympic preparation courses with the Blues: “We see some friends from the France team, but also players we don’t necessarily know, so it’s nice to see how it plays”appreciated the Jocondian.

The Argentan club qualified for the two finals

The finals of the two categories (seated and standing) were played at the same time and on fairly close tables, which made it possible to bring together the public in the Jean-Claude Cissé room (which unfortunately was not numerous).

Among the wheelchair players, Moulins-lès-Metz Handisport faced the formidable Argentan team, multiple French champions, with their pair Émeric Martin – Florian Merrien. The latter, number 1 in his handicap class (class 3), set the pace during this final by winning the first match in an expeditious manner against Alan Papirer (11-1, 11-6, 11-2).

In the second meeting, Sylvain Noël (class 3) created a little surprise by dominating Émeric Martin (class 4): “I benefited from an ascendancy by being quite present at the table, said Sylvain Noël, who will participate in his first Olympics this summer. My preparation started two weeks ago. There, I have two weeks of physical work and after that, I will do training courses all summer to play and refine what happens in the racket. »

The doubles opposition then smiled on the Argentan pair, more complementary. Then Florian Merrien defeated Sylvain Noël in a final, hard-fought duel to win these French championships. The two table tennis players from Argentan are therefore still undefeated since they played together (eight years).

The complementarity and complicity of Florian Merrien and Émeric Martin make them formidable in doubles.

Sacred Jezequel and Empis

In the standing category, the title this time did not go to Argentan (also in the final) but to Team Handisport 76. Tanguy Jezequel (class 9) and Edgar Empis (class 8) were crowned in four meetings (3 victories in 1) against Audrey Le Morvan (class 10) and Frédéric Bellais (class 9).
