With the first round of the legislative elections taking place on Sunday June 30, some events have been postponed or even canceled for some. This is not the case for Jeanne-Hachette celebrations in Beauvais (Oise), which will indeed take place Saturday June 29 and Sunday June 30as expected.

Just one small change

This traditional and highly anticipated event for Beauvais residents will celebrate this year its 552nd edition. Only one thing will change compared to the initial program, the route of the Sunday assault procession. This will leave at 3:30 p.m. from Saint-Symphorien Island before taking Boulevard Aristide Briand, Rue Chevallier, Rue Engrand Leprince, passing in front of the Saint-Etienne church, taking Rue de l’Etamine to arrive on the Place Clemenceau then Place Jeanne-Hachette.

The weekend program

For the rest of the weekend, nothing changes. The festivities will begin on Saturday at 10 a.m. with the opening of the medieval market and camp at the foot of Saint-Etienne church. The brass bands will perform during the afternoon, between 4 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. The royal procession will set off at 9 p.m. And the “Dentelle de pierre” show will be given by the association Les Amis des fête Jeanne-Hachette at 10:45 p.m.

On Sunday, the medieval market and camp will open at 10am. The Saint-Angadrême procession will leave at 10:45 a.m. from Place Jeanne-Hachette towards Saint-Pierre Cathedral, where a mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. The assault procession will therefore leave at 3:30 p.m. The Beauvais harmony orchestra will play from 4 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Place Jeanne-Hachette, before the Harangue au Roy at 5:45 p.m. The cannon salvo will close these 552nd celebrations at 6 p.m.

As a reminder, it is Julie Tassin, 21-year-old Beauvaisian, who will play the role of Jeanne Hachette this year. The role of Colin Pilon will be assumed by Alexandre De Noni.
