The girls of tennis club of La Châtaigneraie (Tclc) of Saint-Leu-la-Forêt (Val-d’Oise) won the regional event Teen racketderived from Raquettes Fft for the youngest, but they are not champions. What happened ?

Error and complaint

Everything started well during this friendly competition intended to launch beginners into the deep end of individual tournaments and team championships. Eline Ribeiro Sanchez, Justine Bellaud (captain), Gabrielle Alexandre, Lilandra Masi, Alyza Choudhary and Angélina Kneib qualified for the Valdois final of this team event, reserved for 13-16 year olds classified up to 30/4, after victories against in Franconville (2/0), Saint-Gratien (2/0) and Le Plessis-Bouchard (2/1). These young girls trained by Benoit Tapon then welcomed those of Boissy-l’Aillerie for the title and won 2/0 under the eyes of Michelle Castrique, responsible for women’s tennis at the departmental committee of Cergy.

The 2024 champions represented Val-d’Oise during the Île-de-France regional final which took place at the departmental committee of Seine-Saint-Denis where everything did not go perfectly… The eight teams present at Aulnay sous Bois were divided into two groups, where each first was qualified for the national final phase which will take place on June 22 and 23 in Dinard. In matches with matches in a winning set, the Valdoisiennes beat the 78 (2/0) and the 94 (2/1), losing against Paris (2/1).

Great tie-break…forgotten

Three teams being tied with two victories and one defeat, it was therefore necessary to take out the calculettes. However, the latter have stalled somewhat. “I made a protest because the referee got the result wrong. We were normally first and therefore qualified for the national phase,” explains Benoît Tapon.

The Regional Disputes Commission, however, validated the first place awarded to the girls of Charenton-le-Pont (Val-de-Marne), despite an appeal from the Parisian committee. “If we do the ranking of the group, we are tied with 94 and we beat them 10-7 in the super tie-break proposed by the referee to decide between the two teams, but it was not taken into account,” regrets the educational manager of Tclc.
