There were 13 in the running. Six projects won the 8th Grand prize for sustainable construction, development and architectureorganized by CAUE 05 and the Hautes-Alpes Department. The event salutes and highlights good practices in this area in order to disseminate them and encourage the sharing of experiences between project managers, project owners and all those involved in the act of building.
Collective housing: the Les 82-4000 solidaires associative lodge, in Briançon
Client: 82-4000 solidarity association. Project manager: Alain Gallinet architect.
The association needed a place to accommodate its beneficiaries, people in precarious situationsto whom she offers mountaineering courses. A building belonging to the diocese was enlarged and renovated, in a participatory and inclusive approach.
The choice was made to preserve the existing structure as much as possible, including the restored stone facade. The extension and elevation, whose structures are made of wooden beams and posts certified by Bois des Alpes, are covered by contemporary volumes.
The project integrates the renewable energies : solar panels on the roof and geothermal energy by drilling.
Public building: renovation/extension of the Saint-Bonnet-en-Champsaur media library
Client: municipality of Saint-Bonnet-en-Champsaur. Project manager: Already architecture.
The news media library is located in the heart of the village and close to the town hall, designed as a place open to as many people as possible, conducive to meetings. It consists of three buildings (one new and two renovated). The new one is modular. The old ones, renovated and insulated, have seen their traditional walls and frames preserved.
The project makes significant use of eco-materials : Bois des Alpes certified framing and cladding wood, strong presence of larch indoors and outdoors, wood wool, etc.
The whole will be connected to a communal wood heating network currently being designed.
Administrative building: the farmers' house, in Gap
Client: Hautes-Alpes Chamber of Agriculture. Project manager: Dufayard architectural workshop.
Visibility, exemplarity, functionality, scalability characterize the house of agriculture, which brings together both the services of the Chamber of Agriculture and its partners (public structures, professional agricultural organizations), thus constituting an agricultural center.
The energy and environmental approach is taken through the use of low carbon materials and techniques (certified Bois des Alpes wood, terracotta panels on the facade, pellet boiler, adiabatic cooling, integration of photovoltaic panels, greening of the surrounding areas and parking lots partly draining). Vegetation is very present within the building as well.
Special jury prize: the departmental archives, in Gap
Client: Department of Hautes-Alpes. Project manager: Dufayard architectural workshop.
The departmental archives have completely changed their face and reopened recently, after two years of major rehabilitation work. Too small, no longer up to standard, not very functional, the building required demolition of the old storage silo, raising the height, removing a glass roof and constructing two extension buildings, the first in R+1, the second in R+6. The new set presents two volumes which stand out for their aesthetics and functionality, while blending into the environment thanks to the choice of brown and beige shades. The team took care to think about summer comfort thanks to the installation of sunshades on the facade.
Development: the town center of Baratier
Client: commune of Baratier. Project manager: MG concept.
The possibility for the town of Baratier to acquire a significant land holding, namely a mansion and an adjoining park, made it possible to develop a vast operation to rehabilitate the town centerin order to make it more attractive while giving nature a place again.
This resulted in the opening of the village square and its large market hall onto the wooded park, the planting of local fruit trees, the use of eco-materials, such as stone or wood, the organization of a car-free place, the optimization of pedestrian paths.
The whole, very concerted, was designed to reduce maintenance and current expenses.
Production of renewable and carbon-free energy: the Saint-Crépin micropower plant
Client: commune of Saint-Crépin.
This micro hydroelectric power plant on the Pra Reboul torrent was entirely supported by the municipality. It was necessary to take into account and coordinate a set of constraints and initiatives: the recovery of water rights from owners, including those belonging to properties in the neighboring commune of La Roche-de-Rame, the renewal of the 3.2 km drinking water pipe, allowing significant water savings by eliminating losses linked to leaks, or even improving the forest fire network.
The 90 m² building is made of poured concrete, the cladding is made of wood and the roof is made of larch shingles. Its architecture is inspired by the chalets of the nearby hamlet for better integration.
The project allows the production of 3.2 million kWh and the irrigation of 80 hectares of land (part of which was not previously).
