LA SEYNE SUR MER: Chapiteaux de la Mer, a superbly disturbing Freak Show!

On June 15, at the marquees de la mer, the circus was in the spotlight with the Toulonnaise company La Divine Usine which amazed the public with a show entitled “Circus”.

Tisot’s off-site season will end at Place Martel-Esprit on June 26 and July 6, with dance and hip hop.

For this crossing of the century, the artists brought out the public in large numbers… on an evening when the calendar pitted them against the RCT players!

An immersion in the 1930s.

A gorilla man who dances above the entrance of the artists and who is ready to frighten the public, a bearded woman who adorns her long hair with flowers, Siamese brothers, a museum of horrors, a melancholy clown, “des dirty kids”, a bird man, an artist half man half woman (…) there was everything to believe you were returning to the time of the “Freak Show” in the United States. Famous at the time, these representations featured those who were called “human monsters” because of their physical malformations or their unusual characteristics. This Saturday evening, “the monsters” were presented by the divine Violette Vermine, an extravagant blonde from the 1930s who seemed straight out of a Tim Burton film. Equally sensual and disturbing, she accompanied the audience in her discovery by singing to period melodies, lyrics by Aya Nakamura and other famous French rappers. At the sound of the bell, when the visitors were invited to leave the premises so that other performances could be given the same evening, there were so many people eager to discover this extraordinary universe, everyone said they were overwhelmed by the experience…disturbing.

Two more dates outside the walls for Tisot!

Even if all good things come to an end, the Tisot Cultural Center team invites you to two more sessions before lowering the curtain. As a goodbye gift, these are free. There will first be Wednesday June 26 at 7 p.m., a dance show given by “Isicathulo” an artistic creation which fuses Hip-Hop and contemporary in a percussive performance. The meeting with the public will take place on Place Martel-Esprit in the city center. Finally, you will have to add to your calendar a Hip Hop show on Saturday July 6 at 7 p.m., still in the city center and on the same square. The group Tape Toast will shake up the streets with a Hip-Hop performance!
