But a difficult decision was made yesterday afternoon. “Due to the rain which fell during the night from Wednesday to Thursday, the track on the site is completely degraded. In the turns, the covering sand has been washed away and we can see the earth appearing, it is impossible to maintain the competition, beyond inequalities, it is even very dangerous,” he continues. And the announcement of the renunciation created real disarray: “Both among our leaders and members and among those of the other clubs who had to compete or even participate in the feasts and festivities at the end of the day”.
275 participants were expected
The associated figures are substantial: “275 competitors were expected to compete in this competition and then, we ordered a giant paella from a caterer for the 80 guests of the evening”. A legitimate disappointment and work already accomplished which is reduced to nothing. “For our thirty volunteers, but also the town hall services who lent us barn, tables and chairs for comfort during the evening,” specifies the president. Farewell also to the promised atmosphere: “To celebrate this anniversary in a very fun way, we put in place a big airbag, a sort of well-inflated cushion against which a launching pad is attached. By using this, the pilots can jump to perform figures of their choice, without risking injury if they do not land on their supports.
