Paris 2024. City by city, the route and times of the Olympic flame in the Loire

The Olympic flame will cross the Loire on Saturday June 22. She arrived in France, in Marseille, on May 8 and will have traveled through 34 overseas departments and territories before arriving in Roanne at 9 a.m.

Carried by 155 torchbearers, it will finish its race in Saint-Etienne, at the Geoffroy-Guichard stadium, at the end of the day.

In each city crossed, it will be accompanied by numerous events, but also traffic disruptions.

Here, step by step, are the timetables (calculated based on the progress of the torchbearers), the routes and traffic constraints for this day.

Roanne

From 9 a.m. to 10:08 a.m.

The flame will begin its journey through the Loire sub-prefecture, from the Malleval stadium. You’ll have to be early to miss it. The torchbearers, including Loïc Vergnaud, Paralympic cycling medalist, will begin to 9 hours and should arrive at 10 h 10 on the banks of the Loire 2.

They will go up through the city center via Place Victor-Hugo, the train station, Saint-Étienne church, Place Louis-Flandre and Notre-Dame-des-Victoires church.

At the Malleval stadium, the adapted sports federation will run an Olympic village until noon. An Olympic dance will be given, in the finish area, by the Roanne dance schools and brass bands will take turns all along the route to ensure the atmosphere.

Parking will be prohibited outside the path of the flame from Friday June 21 at midnight and traffic will be stopped at 5:30 a.m., before being gradually put back in place when the flame has passed.

Charlieu

From 10:30 a.m. to 10:50 a.m.

After passing through Roanne, the flame will leave for Charlieu.

The porters will start from the Michel-Servet college, passing through the Saint-Philibert church to arrive at the Benedictine abbey at 10 h 50. We will have to be quick, she will only stay twenty minutes in the town.

For those who stay in Roannais, a concert will be given on the abbey esplanade by the Harmonie de Charlieu, from 11:20 a.m. to 12:20 p.m.

Parking areas will be set up near the boulevards, to then reach the flame on foot. The historic center will in fact be entirely pedestrian from Friday June 21 at 2 p.m. to Sunday June 23 at 8 a.m.

Montbrison

From 11:58 a.m. to 12:40 p.m.

Make way for Drill! And to welcome the flame to Forezian soil, a fourme relay will be organized with 14 local associations, from 11 a.m.

The flame will start at the Sainte-Eugénie chapel in 11 h 58. The torchbearers will take Avenue Thermale, to the city center, for an arrival at the Allard garden estimated at 12 h 40. They will be accompanied by musical performances throughout the route.

The Allard garden will host activities for children from 10 a.m.

Traffic will be prohibited along the flame route from 10:30 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. Parking will be prohibited on avenue de la Libération, boulevards Gambetta, Duguet and de la Madeleine, and avenue d’Allard until 12:45 p.m. You will have to park in the Jacquins car park, or those of the Beauregard, Bouvier, Commanderie, Saint-Jean, Docteur-Vial sports complex or at the associations area. A shuttle will take spectators from the Jacquins parking lot to the city center.

Feurs

From 1:20 p.m. to 1:45 p.m.

Before lighting a Forézienne flame on the square in front of the Feurs town hall, 13 h 45the porters will begin their journey at the racecourse and continue on Grande-Rue de Randan, rue de la République and avenue Jean-Jaurès.

The passage of the flame will be short but entertainment will be organized all day long, with the racecourse festival and its fireworks display at nightfall, as well as the Music Festival.

On Town Hall Square, from 2:30 p.m. to 3 p.m., spectators will be able to meet renowned athletes, including Murielle Hurtis (athletics), Jackson Richardson (handball), Laura Flessel (fencing) and Jean-Louis Zanon (football). . On the Place de la Boaterie, sports demonstrations will take place. And Place Guichard will host activities for children from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Traffic and parking will be prohibited on several streets in the town for a good part of the day. It is advisable to park at the museum, the hospital, the cinema, the gymnasiums, the castle, the Faubourg car park or the Rousson car park.

Saint-Chamond

From 3:20 p.m. to 4:13 p.m.

The Saint-Etienne Métropole Arena will host the departure of the Olympic flame, which will then cross rue du 17-Octobre-1961, the Théâtre de Verdure and Novaciéries for an arrival at 16 h 15 Liberty Square.

Numerous sporting and musical events will brighten up the day, from 2 p.m. in Novaciéries and on Place de la Liberté. Up to 80,000 people are expected in the streets of Couramiaude.

On the motorway, only exits 16 (from Saint-Etienne) and 14 (from Lyon) will provide access to the city center. In the city, the streets will be closed to traffic 30 minutes before the passage of the flame and reopened 30 minutes after the passage of the last torchbearer. Parking along the route will be prohibited from Friday June 21 at 6 p.m.

Firminy

From 4:45 p.m. to 5:05 p.m.

The procession will set off from 16 h 45 from the Le Corbusier housing unit to reach the Le Corbusier municipal stadium at 17 h 05, passing in front of the Château des Bruneaux and the Saint-Pierre church. A barrier is provided along the entire route.

Many activities will be offered in the Firminy-Vert district and throughout the city to also accompany the Appelouse Corrida and the clearance sale.

Parking will be strictly prohibited on the entire route from Friday June 21, at 2 p.m. Traffic will be impossible throughout the Firminy-Vert sector from 2:30 p.m. on Saturday June 22.

Saint Etienne

From 5:40 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

The end of this 38th stage for the flame will take place in Saint-Etienne, from 17 h 40.

The start will be given in front of the Planetarium, on the Cours Fauriel. From there, Rue des Françs-Maçons, Rue Gambetta, Place du Peuple and Hôtel-de-Ville will be crossed. A detour will be made to the Mining Museum.

Then the flame will return to Place de l’Hôtel-de-Ville to continue Place Jean-Jaurès, Place Carnot, Cité du Design, Parc François-Mitterrand then the Zénith, the penultimate place crossed.

During its passage, numerous events and concerts are planned. A concert by the Opera choir and the children of the Massenet conservatory at 5:40 p.m. on the Planetarium square, demonstrations and sports initiations on the Place de l’Hôtel-de-Ville all day long, concerts on Place Dorian (at from 6 p.m.), but also at the Couriot well (from 4:30 p.m.) and on Place Jean-Jaurès (from 5 p.m.), workshops and exhibitions on sport at the Cité du design (from 2 p.m.).

Parking will be prohibited on the flame route from Friday June 21 at 6 p.m. to Saturday June 22 at 7:30 p.m. Traffic will be prohibited from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

The Stas network will be adapted. Regarding trams, line T1 will only run between Hôpital Nord and Cité du design from 4:30 p.m. to 7:10 p.m., line T2 will not run from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. and the T3 line will not run from 4 p.m. 30 to 6:30 p.m., then it will be reinforced as soon as traffic resumes. At 7:30 p.m
