Jérôme Clavel, beekeeper in Aubrac, and Matthieu Hamel, agricultural worker on a dairy sheep farm, introduce themselves again.
The Miss and Mister France agricole competition is launched again for the year 2025. This election is organized by the eponymous association, and takes place on Facebook. Internet users are invited to vote until December 14, 2024 for their favorite candidate, in four categories: Miss Agricultural France, Mister Agricultural France, Miss Agricultural Junior and Mister Agricultural Junior.
The objective stated by the organizers is to get people talking about agriculture, to highlight these professions by putting young farmers in the spotlight. “The election of Miss and Mister Agricole is a competition dedicated to promoting the agricultural sector and its passionate actors“, poses the association.
The competition, instructions for use
To participate in the competition as a candidate, you must send your photo and your short presentation text, stating first name, age, profession or student in agricultural studies, region and motivation, by private message on the Facebook page.
The competition is open from 15 years old in the junior category, from 18 years old and without age limit in the adult category. It is allowed to apply even if you have already applied in the past. Of course, you have to practice an agricultural profession or follow an agricultural training course.
Registrations are open until November 29, 2024, votes until December 14, 2024.
The organization adds: “This friendly event aims to promote women and men in the agricultural sector, in order to show a positive and smiling image of our profession, there is no financial issue, just a good time to spend together.” The jury selects the winners from the 20 candidates with the most “likes” in each category.
Miss and Mister France agricole will go to the Agricultural Show in Paris and to the Livestock Summit in Cournon.
The two Lozère candidates for Mister France Agricole from last year are presenting themselves again.
Matthieu Hamel, agricultural worker
Matthieu Hamel, 23, is a farm worker and volunteer firefighter. Born in Mende, he now lives in Bourgs-sur-Colagne. He works on a dairy sheep farm which provides milk for Roquefort. He says he has been passionate about agriculture since he was very young, and in particular the dairy sector. His dream is to one day have his own dairy cattle farm.
If he participates in this competition, it is to take advantage of the media platform it offers to defend agriculture and those who practice it. Among his favorite subjects, we logically find the settlement of young people and the desertification of the countryside.
Last year, he was selected for the final phase.
Jérôme Clavel, beekeeper
Jérôme Clavel is 32 years old. Originally from Chanac, he is based in Aubrac, in the town of Saint-Germain-du-Teil. A beekeeper, he is the founder of Occimiel. This competition gives him the opportunity to defend beekeeping and the region, which he also promotes on social networks. It sells all of its organic honey production directly.
He believes: “This application reflects my convictions which pushed me to settle down after my agricultural school curriculum: committed, determined. And show that with desire, we move mountains, and God knows there are some near us!“
