In short :

  • Humidity and heat are there;

  • Rapid accumulations are possible.

How will the risk of thunderstorms change during the day?

Thunderstorms hit the west of the province and as far as Saguenay last night and early in the morning.

These disruptions are expected to continue this Tuesday, June 18. As of the morning, violent cells could break out in northern Quebec as well as in Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean. In the afternoon, part of the Outaouais and the Laurentians are added to the sectors at risk of seeing violent storms develop.

Severe conditions are possible, with lightning, heavy rain, gusts and small hailstones.

Good to know :

We speak of violent thunderstorms when storm cells have the potential to cause one or more of these meteorological phenomena:

  • Gusts of more than 90km/h;

  • Hailstones 2 cm in diameter or more;

  • Rapid and abundant accumulations (more than 50 mm in less than an hour);

  • Possibility of tornadoes.

Scattered thunderstorms possible throughout Quebec

Energy should be available throughout Quebec during the day to allow the development of scattered storms in other sectors. The risk continues until the evening.
