She is known for her film “Three Men and a Bassinet”. Coline Serreau was passing through Lons-le-Saunier this Thursday evening, at the request of Yann Arthus-Bertrand, for the broadcast of her film “La Belle verte” at the Mégarama cinema as part of the “La Ville du Change “.

This feature film, released in 1996, and starring Vincent Lindon, Marion Cotillard and James Thierrée, tells the story of an extraterrestrial discovering the Earth and its industrial, polluting and individualistic failings.

A film that has become cult

During the debate with the spectators after the screening, Coline Serreau spoke of the subversive nature of her film upon its release: “La Belle Verte was undoubtedly ahead of its time. He was insultingly criticized by the media at the time. But the film was still a success in theaters, exceeding one million admissions. Today, the film is enjoying a second lease of life thanks to the Internet, becoming a true cult film and conveying a strong environmental and philosophical message. »

Coline Serreau also declared to Le Progrès: “I am happy to see that the film La Belle Verte is finally recognized for what it is: an environmentalist tale. The enthusiasm of spectators for the film in streaming and download proves that its message particularly resonates in our times. There are even Belle Verte clubs and restaurants. I launch a film and then the spectators take hold of it and make it grow. »

Originally from Jura Switzerland

Coline Serreau was not disoriented passing through the Jura. “I am above all an author, I have always wanted to make quality films for as many people as possible. I come from a family of theater people from the Swiss Jura and I have been immersed in theater and directing actors all my life. All my films helped launch beginning actors who subsequently became magnificent actors like Marion Cotillard, whose La Belle Verte was her first film. »

Asked about her future projects, Coline Serreau is clear, the “fight” continues. “With the political upheaval that has just happened, I am working on a societal film that is still very funny in order to point out what is wrong in this world and there is no shortage of subjects, unfortunately. We must listen to people in suffering and stop working for big financial capital. Life is still beautiful, but you have to fight. »
