Offering a real village square to the inhabitants of Wavre. The General Council of La Tène is called upon to decide this Thursday on a credit request of 675,000 francs. This amount aims to create a central location for the population of the village, but also to redevelop the schoolyard. The project emanates from a popular motion launched by the P’tit four association, which had collected 147 signatures and which had passed the General Council.
For the moment, the situation is far from optimal, according to the Municipal Council. The absence of a courtyard poses a problem in the event of rain, but also in extreme heat. Furthermore, the P’tit four, a wood-fired oven available to the population, is difficult to access with high steps, to the point of being a source of accidents. Ramps will be installed to improve the situation.
A site divided into four different spaces
Four new spaces have also been imagined. A sort of forum, with a new 70-seat stand, will be built to host shows and games. A climbing wall will be located on the west facade of the college, as well as a slide and ropes for climbing. The courtyard will be enlarged to provide shelter for students. A green space will be created on the current schoolyard, with a willow tunnel and three wooden teepees. The three birches currently present will be replaced by four other trees. However, the two chestnut trees will be preserved.
Finally, a multi-sport field will allow users to play football or basketball, for example.
Participatory process
This project was the subject of consultation with the P’tit Four association, the Thielle-Wavre Emulation Society, as well as the Bas-Lac School Center. The students were also asked to imagine their ideal schoolyard.
The General Council of La Tène will have the last word on this matter on Thursday. If the credit is accepted, the start of work is planned for July 2025 and the project should extend until October. /sbm
