Founder of the site “Islam & Info”, Elias d'Imzalène is, according to several media, targeted by an S file since 2021. Defender of the pro-Palestinian movement calling for the “Intifada in France”, he was alongside LFI deputy Eric Coquerel during a rally against the France-Israel match this Thursday, November 14.
“Artist-Performer-Composer and political influence”. This is how Elias d'Imzalene describes himself on his X account. For several months, this pro-Palestinian activist has made the headlines for his radical and controversial positions regarding the conflict in the Middle East and Muslims . Thursday, November 14, he stood alongside LFI deputy Eric Coquerel in Saint-Denis during a rally in opposition to the France-Israel match.
The politician also attracted the wrath of observers for having declared on RMC this Friday that Elias d'Imzalène was “certainly more respectable than Bruno Retailleau”.
However, this speaker, representative and political advisor of the Urgence Palestine collective, whose real name is El Yess Zareli, was tried on October 23 in Paris for public incitement to hatred, after his call to “lead the intifada” in France launched during of a demonstration on September 8 at Place de la Nation. The court has not yet made its decision.
During the attack carried out by Hamas on October 7, 2023 in Israel which left 1,206 dead according to an AFP count and which was ongoing, the latter declared: “Remember this date. Your children will learn it in history books,” calling Hamas a “resistance movement,” recalled the Franc-Tireur newspaper.
Alain Soral, Dieudonné, Ersilia Soudais, who are his supporters?
The activist who has become close to LFI has already been seen alongside deputies Thomas Portes, Louis Boyard, Rima Hassan and Ersilia Soudais. On September 24, when he was in police custody for his call for “intifada”, the MP visited him, posting a video of support immediately on X. A point of view apparently not shared by everyone . In the columns of Charlie Hebdo on September 26, an anonymous source confided that this support for Elias d'Imzalene “is not shared by anyone else in the parliamentary group”.
The Muslim Perspectives and Urgence Palestine associations also stood alongside Elias d'Imzalene during his trial by sharing a pot denouncing a “repression”. The sum of 2,866 euros – out of a target of 5,000 euros – was then collected.
Coming from Trappes (Yvelines), Elias d'Imzalène, 45, revealed himself to the general public in the early 2010s. Wishing for a patriotic “front of faith” between Christian fundamentalists and Islamists, he was noticed by Dieudonné and would have had links with Alain Soral, a far-right Franco-Swiss essayist convicted of contesting the existence of the Shoah. In 2013, Elias d'Imzalene gave conferences on “the clash of civilizations” at the Main d'Or theater, managed at the time by Dieudonné.
“Secession from the Republic”
Of all the gatherings linked to the defense of Palestine or Muslims, it is with Muslim Perspectives, which he is organizing in August 2022 alongside the Indigènes de la République party of Houria Bouteldja – recognized for the book Les Blancs les Jews and us –, a mobilization to support imam Hassan Iquioussen expelled last March in Morocco for “repeated acts of explicit and deliberate provocation to discrimination, hatred or violence against Jews, women and non-Jews -Muslims”.
To defend the latter, he assures that “if there is a real “great replacement”, it is that of the resistance by the collaborators”, adding that France is leading “a policy of apartheid, of ethno-confessional segregation” . According to Naëm Bestandji, writer, Elias d'Imzalene “directly calls on Muslims to secede from the Republic.”
In their book La Communauté, dedicated to communitarianism in Trappes, Le Monde journalists Raphaëlle Bacqué and Ariane Chemin, write that “during a search of his home, the police found a copy of Mein Kampf, Adolf Hitler's program book “. An additional element which has earned it an S rating according to many media.
Elias d'Imzalène is also the founder of the Islamist site Islam & Info, a media whose motto is “by the Muslim, for the Muslim and open to all!” describes itself as being the “first on the French Muslim community scene”. The last article dates back to 2021. He denounces in particular the Islamophobia which reigns in France.
