Ukraine was at the center of discussions in Nidwalden this weekend, but it is ultimately the host country of the conference which draws the main success of this summit. A somewhat cynical conclusion shared by the vast majority of the Swiss press the day after this peace conference, bringing together no less than 92 states at the Bürgenstock. There NZZ sums up these two days in central Switzerland as follows: “The logistics worked, there were no dangerous incidents and open conflicts between the delegations were avoided.”

In form, Berne thus covers itself with honor in the country’s media. The Alemannic version of Watson thus redoubles his praise: “The superlative will remain. Switzerland has never organized such a comprehensive and high-level conference. From an organizational point of view, she passed the test very well.” Same observation by the St. Galler Tagblatt which depicts a postcard summit, of a Switzerland more Swiss than that which a tourist office of the Bernese Oberland could have imagined: “As soon as you reach the Obbürgen plateau at 749 meters above sea level, a world different begins. The bells ring, peace and quiet return, daily worries are far away. When you reach the Bürgenstock at 1128 meters, the view takes your breath away. The reward is a majestic view of Lucerne and Lake Lucerne.”
