An agreement in principle has been reached between Taseko Mines Limited and the Unifor union which represents the 500 workers who have been on strike at the Gibraltar copper-molybdenum mine since the beginning of the month.
The mining company’s press release adds that this agreement in principle must now be presented to unionized employees for ratification.
The vote is expected to take place Monday or Tuesday [prochain]. If the agreement is ratified, the company’s activities will resume on Wednesday.
Members of Unifor Local 3018 have been negotiating a new labor contract since February 2024.
The copper mine is located 200 km south of Prince George in central British Columbia.
