Princess Anne, sister of King Charles III, was urgently admitted to hospital this Sunday June 23 following an accident at her residence in Gatcombe Park, Gloucestershire. The incident, believed to involve a horse, caused great concern.

An accident with still unclear circumstances

The exact details of the accident remain unknown, but according to the Daily Mail, Princess Anne, 73, was hit in the head, possibly by one or more horses.

A distinguished equestrian, the Princess Royal is known for her passion for horse riding, having even represented her country at the Montreal Olympic Games in 1976.

Quickly taken care of, the princess was airlifted to Southmead Hospital in Bristol. She was diagnosed with “minor head injuries and concussion”, according to an official statement from Buckingham Palace. Even more worrying, ex-royal correspondent Michael Cole reported that the princess was “unable to remember what happened”. The incident therefore seemed to be more serious than initially announced.

Reassuring news despite the worry

Despite the concern, the news regarding Princess Anne’s state of health seems reassuring. Her husband, Timothy Laurence, visited her bedside on Tuesday June 25 and told reporters present: “She is doing well, slowly but surely”. He added that he had brought his wife, who is not a big fan of the Meghan/Harry couple, “some treats from home”.
