In May 2018, his escape, during a medical extraction at Morvan hospital, had national resonance. A European arrest warrant was even issued against him before he and his accomplice were arrested in Spain after twelve days on the run. Six years later, Landernéan Anthony Pondaven found himself detained again in the remand center, according to information from Ouest- that we are able to confirm.

“I still cannot understand this decision which does not depend on the prison administration,” complains Reynald Cochennec, Force Ouvrière (FO) union delegate at the prison. Expressing his great astonishment, he added: “It is not possible for him to stay there: a detainee who has escaped from somewhere, we do not put him back in the same place.”

Placed in solitary confinement

An opinion widely shared by Gaëtan Saliou, representative of the Ufap-Unsa-Justice union. “The need for his transfer to another establishment is obvious”, judges the one for whom this return “gives rise to great concern”. The unions fear in particular for the serenity within a penitentiary establishment already faced with significant prison overcrowding.

Placed in solitary confinement since he was imprisoned on Friday, November 8, in the afternoon, Anthony Pondaven should not be judged before January 2025. Until then, the unions intend to ask their management to request to the magistrates the transfer of this detainee like no other.
