Saturday June 8 in Gigouzac, at the crossroads of the arts, took place for the first time an exceptional artistic hike organized by the Philippe-Gaubert music conservatory of Cahors, entitled “Gigouz’arts”. The invited public was taken to stroll along a path punctuated by musical breaks played by the conservatory teachers and their students, and sung by students from the Gigouzac and Lamagdelaine schools.

It was a great opportunity for the children to discover and hear a whole set of varied instruments in an original setting: in a field, in a wood, on a path, in a park.

Logistics challenge

Fanny Bordarie, a dumist musician from the conservatory, set up this project and traveled to the two schools throughout the school year to teach the students a repertoire of songs on the theme of birds. She organized the route, the installation and the cohesion of the different speakers. An impressive logistical challenge to install an entire orchestra in the woods for example, giving a dazzling charm to the musical notes filling this rural and bucolic setting amidst the songs of birds.

In each school, the students produced artistic creations (painting, sculptures, folding) which were exhibited along the route. The path ended in the magnificent park of the Gigouzac mill where the great Cahors symphony orchestra CahOrchestra had set up, for a grandiose concert based on Miyazaki’s film scores.

We can only congratulate Fanny Bordarie for this great project, the children for their participation and their enthusiasm, and thank the parents who responded to the invitation and of course the musicians for their incredible performances!
