A truck collided with a barrier on Highway 401 in Toronto, causing a fire, according to the Ontario Provincial Police.

In Toronto, Highway 401 express and service lanes are reopened westbound between DVP/404 and Bayview Arterial, but lanes providing access from one lane type to the other remain closed following an accident Wednesday morning.

According to the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), a truck caught fire after crashing into a highway barrier around 5:10 a.m. Wednesday morning.

The fire caused significant damageexplained the PPO on X (formerly Twitter) around 1 p.m.

The truck driver was taken to hospital. He suffered minor injuries, according to police.

The closure of the expressways lasted several hours.

Police had advised motorists to avoid the area on Wednesday morning.
