Legislative elections 2024: candidate in Haute-Garonne, Baptiste Robert, the Toulouse hacker who wants to break the codes

Since 2020, Baptiste Robert has been at the head of Predicta Lab, a company that offers Open Source Intelligence (OSINT) services, namely obtaining or verifying information from public data. The man who is recognized as an ethical hacker and cybersecurity specialist is officially a candidate for the third constituency of Haute-Garonne, pushed by “the current chaos of the political landscape”.

“Today, we have the choice between extremes. The RN, emerging all powerful from the European polls, and a left for a time alone under the LFI banner. I am one of the sensible people who do not recognize themselves in this political offer,” summarizes the thirty-year-old. After having displayed his positions in his field of expertise and advised political decision-makers on these issues over the last few years, Baptiste Robert is therefore entering the arena. “I want to restore common sense. The idea is to bring my expertise and guide the political decision on my areas of expertise but also to work on the subjects as much as possible by moving away from dogmatism,” assures the one who wants to restore its place and its role to Parliament. “I obviously have my opinion on local issues like the A69, the third metro line in Toulouse but also on national issues like pensions. »

“There is an interesting space”

If he presents himself without a label while situating himself “rather on the center left”, the Toulouse resident wishes, with his candidacy and his #breakingthecodes, “to bring together people who want to escape from the simplification of political debates, from artificial oppositions and return to the shade “.

A choice that is not easy when you are a business leader and a recognized figure. But he takes this risk with conviction, in a period where the lines are even more blurred. “It’s my responsibility to do it,” says Baptiste Robert, who is already on deck for this lightning campaign, relying in particular on social networks. While outgoing Renaissance MP Corinne Vignon will seek a third term, the non-party candidate thinks he has a chance in a recomposed political landscape. “In 2022, the RN had made 6.5% in the first round. Laurence Arribagé, who was a Les Républicains candidate, is now ineligible (she is now Horizons, Editor’s note). The Nupes candidate (Agathe Roby, Editor’s note), who arrived in the second round, was LFI and we do not know if she will be nominated. So there is interesting space. »
