Wednesday November 6, 2024, a scene of rare intensity took place before the eyes of motorists on the A9 motorway, in Gard.
At the start of the afternoon, a chase broke out in the Pissevin district of Nîmes, involving two individuals determined to escape the police. The scene, worthy of an action film, began on rue Sully, where the fugitives, aboard a Clio, engaged in a frenzied “chase” with the police.
The two men took all the risks towards the highway, where the situation quickly took a dramatic turn. Pursued by the gendarmes, they entered the wrong direction on the A9 motorway, an extremely dangerous maneuver which caused an impact with a vehicle.
The suspects then directed their vehicle towards Piolenc, in Vaucluse, in a desperate attempt to evade the police as reported by Actu.fr.
During this mad chase, the fugitives threw a bag out the window containing nearly a kilogram of herbal cannabis, proof of probable involvement in drug trafficking. Thanks to the intervention of the gendarmes, at the wheel of their rapid intervention vehicle, an Alpine, the suspects were caught, but the hunt was still continuing at the end of the day, mobilizing significant resources.
This incident highlights the courage of law enforcement, determined to neutralize behavior that seriously endangers public safety. The investigations should make it possible to better understand the motivations of suspects and the possible ramifications of their action in trafficking networks.
